Organising Chaos // T1D

This article is all about Claire @OrganisingChaos; a type 1 DiaBossLady and role model for many in the UK online community. She is the founder of Organising Chaos blog and shop and very importantly the creator behind the famous and super useful HYPO pot .

.

''A few years ago I started on my journey from Dia-bad to Diabadass and it felt like being diagnosed all over again.''

Claire has been a type 1 diabetic for over 22 years and much like a many of us, she started this journey feeling overwhelmed.- "I always felt disconnected and alone with my diabetes management and went through my teenage and adolescent years rebelling against it. I didn't own a test machine, I rarely injected and when I did it was a wild guess.

.

[...] After struggling through diabetes burnout for over 10 years a few years ago I decided to take control and I began my journey from Dia-Bad to Diabadass. I came across people sharing their diabetes stories on social media and I started sharing my journey on Instagram [...] Being part of the online diabetes community has been instrumental in my recovery from diabetes burnout. ''

.

//she is also behind the hypo-pot which I have praised many times on here

You can get your own >here<

.

Through her own way of starting to organise diabetes chaos she realised that there is a lack of community feel in the UK compared to the US and that most brands and organisations for meet ups and diabetes swag are always abroad so building a local community became an important driver for her.

.

She didn't only manage to build and contribute to the local UK community but also internationally around her super creative nature where she started designing all kinds of diabadass swag; all aimed at helping us wear diabetes with pride.

.

// the shop has all kinds of amazing and fun designs and recently a new line of #BlueNovember swag

these pins are sold to create awareness and raise money for JDRF.UK. // get your own >here<

.

''The idea for a store actually began years ago when my Aunty Patsy and I had a dream to start a business together. [...]She was the inspiration for the name Organising Chaos!  She was a self-confessed hoarder and to the outside world a very messy person but she always said she lived in Organised Chaos.''

.

Their idea became a reality when people started asking Claire where she got her hypo pot which she made for herself and posted about the convenience of having one of those through her Instagram page. -'' Organising Chaos became an online diabetic shop, offering unique diabetes accessories to decorate diabetes supplies.

.

Did you know Organising Chaos is also behind some of my favourite Instagram stickers being the first official gif/ sticker maker for the diabetes community ?!

Claire is actually one of the first diabuddies I've meet in real life on one of the events she organised alongside @alice.in.type.wonderland and @Ceri_Ann_Hackling in Brighton through their Instagram pages. I remember I found the lovely cafe place and went in ! There was a big table that was full of people and I recognised Claire straight away; rocking her I > /\\/ tee ! She helped me grab a chair and I joined in !

.

It was the very first time I went out to meet others with type1 in real life and I wanted to vlog and document everything. I didn't really plan something in particular but as we went outside and sat in a circle on a patch of fake grass I just pointed my camera at her without any warning and started asking about how organising chaos came to be.

If you do already know Claire, its most likely you know her from her Instagram page where she is very popular and where her account had over 10.000 followers. A couple months ago unfortunately she lost her account and even though this must have been really hard for her, she didn't give up and she started anew because she knows how much it means for the diabetes community and for herself to be able to share ups and downs of life with diabetes with others living with the same condition.

.

''Let me be honest, I've cried for a few days and at times debated even carrying on with Organising Chaos. But I realised it isn't just where I promote my products, the online diabetes community is a huge part of my life, my diabuddies have been there when people in real life haven't. It's my creative outlet and my safe space. ''

If you did not know about her new page show your support and follow her here > @_organising.chaos < .

I > /\\/ '' My life revolves around these symbols and their meaning.

// They are engrained in my skin with my tattoo, they are part of Organising Chaos' logo and identity and feature on so many of my products.''

Claire is an amazing T1D role model and I am so lucky to have met her and have her as a diabuddy and so happy to share her story with you. I will always be thankful for her introducing me to whats beyond the online community in real life at my first diabuddy meetup and inspiring me to share and transform a journey of my own from hating diabetes all the way up to making it my interest, my community and my business. <3
